I had to write a post about this tank. Its setup at Tache Nursing home in Winnipeg on the main floor. Wonderful tank filled with some real giants! This tank was like a magnet attracting the young, old, visitors and staff alike. The tank features a fully sustainable ecosystem and custom designed glass and hood.
I give the designer credit for the tank’s ability to diffuse the tensions that come with visiting a sick one at the health care facility. I watched at least a dozen wheel chairs being pushed or escorted by adventurous children, side-tracked by this beautiful display.
Here’s a link to their website where you can read all about their setups.
Here’s a short video I took. Long list of fascinating fish and reptiles in there.
Tropheus fry love snails! Especially snail eggs. You can see that gooey spotted mass on the back of the container. These snails have been busy.
I’m certain that snails are part of their diet in the lake. Very high protein for a vegetarian fish. I’m sure they will grow out fast and strong with the added snails. Plus they do a pretty good job of cleaning the glass. Too bad they don’t last long in the adult tanks.
